helplessness
You know when you feel the most helpless? Not when your cramming for an exam and don't understand 4 of 5 chapters, not when your relationship is crumbling right before your eyes, and not when you're stuck under a large object. The most helpless time in a person's life is when you’re getting a haircut. That's right, a HAIRCUT. You're sitting on a chair with your limbs immobilized because of that freakin' blanket thing, and your hair, that which gives your head shape and personality, is completely in the hands of a STRANGER! What's worse, is that you're forced to watch it all happen in that mirror they place directly in front of you. You're forced to watch as each and every hair gets cut, waiting for something to go wrong. "NO!! YOU CUT IT TOO SHORT!!" you scream (silently in your head) as a huge chunk of hair slowly glides to the ground. Of course you don’t have to watch. That’s why some choose to close their eyes, saving themselves from the stress of watching. And when it's all said and done and your head looks like an oblong melon, you pay your dues (tip included) with a smile and a “thank you”, and protest silently until you step outside the barber shop/salon. A person could be failing out of school but do they go to the Academic Peer Advisor? Not a chance. But do they have their one trusted hair stylist in case their noggin needs a trimmin’? You betcha. Of course, not all trips to the salon/stylist turn you into Cousin IT (Adams Family reference). Once you’ve found THE ONE, haircutting experiences are less stressful and a beautiful cranium full of luscious hair can give you all the confidence in the world. Haircuts are so important to a person’s emotional well being! You start looking up when walking down the street, glancing at yourself in each passing store window, and the world couldn’t be a more perfect place for you and your hair…that is, if you’re lucky. In closing I'd like to say choose your haircutting spouse wisely and never lose faith. God speed and good luck on your haircutting adventures. .

UPDATE
spring break: *Pride is what what HAD, babygirl I'm what you HAVE* February 22nd, 7 friends and myself went down to Miami Beach for our spring break. This was actually my second time going down there. Why Miami you ask? Well, there was much indecision and procrastination that played a role in our venue selection process. But this time instead of going with the "dancers", I went with the NOrthside fam...(in size order) Cesar Herrera, Pat Jirasirakul, Ijun Lai, Elaine Liu, Diana Yuen, Michelle Lin, Tammy Chu. DAMN we had lots of fun. Beautiful beaches. Booty-full women. Bumpin parties. Burning sun. Bestest of friends. Belicious food. What more can you ask for on a Break of Spring?? From Opium to Red Head Sluts to limo rides to hasty predrinking to In Da Club to poolside to the jacuzzi to confessionals to Running through my head RUNNING THROUGH MY HEAD to Justice Shellfish to sunrises...Miami was amazing! *sigh* too bad we had to come back to finish off something called school and start our transition into something called our future. I just want to thank all those that shared in that experience with me...it was truly a memorable 6 days. Oh well, let the daily trips into Miami nostalgia begin...
funKtion: Dance Mix 2003 is JUST around the corner and you know what that means...hell is on its way. Can you believe it? This is my LAST Dance Mix! Wait a minute, all those that know me from back home, can you believe I freakin DANCE?! What the....??? Who would've thoughT?! What started as something to fill up my boring freshman days is now a passion. I know in the coming days I will probably be bitching about being tired from practices, but what I also know is that 3 months from now I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but in Angell Hall from 9-11pm on Mondays and Wednesdays drilling some dope dance choreographed by JB or Ant or any of my funKtion boys (run on sentence? yes, I agree). Ahhh...so sad. Anyways...*tears dripping down my cheeks*...Dance Mix 2003: Wednesday March 26th, 8pm @ the Power Center. Y'all better come out and enjoy the show...

I finally arive in Chicago's O'Hare Airport only to find that every United flight is overbooked and the remaining Northwest flights to Detroit are cancelled due to inclement weather. I'm sitting on a bench right near the baggage claim area waiting for Jon "Gonads" Gotianse to pick me up and house me for the night when my phone rings...UKNOWN ID. I answer the phone and it's my eldest brother, SOnny. He asks me how i am and i tell him about the flights and how i'm staying over in Chicago with a friend..and then he lays it on me...
"PETE, TINA HAD THE BABY...8 lbs"
And he says it all calm and cool like as if it ain't no thang! On the other hand i respond with a jubilent display of joy and affection towards my brother (most of which he couldn't see because he was on the phone) and then *CLICK* Apparently the hospital only allows 1 minute phone calls to family. But anyways...
JUSTIN ANDREW VATANAPRADIT, my new nephew!!!!
Welcome to the family!!!!
